Transfer Deadline Day: Three of the best

Transfer deadline day happens twice a season and is always a crazy day.  Who can forget Dimitar Berbatov moving to Manchester United in August 2008? Or how about Mesut Özil moving to Arsenal in 2013? Dimitar Berbatov - Tottenham to Manchester United in 2008 Earlier on this dramatic deadline day, it had appeared that Manchester City were going to shatter United's hopes after they had a bid of more than 20 million pounds accepted by Tottenham. United ultimately got their man and the Bulgarian would go onto win two Premier League titles and a League Cup whilst at Old Trafford.  At the time of the transfer, one Manchester United fan said: "Rooney, Ronaldo, Tevez, Berbatov - Is there a better attacking outfit? Now we are really ready to attack European football like we have done domestically." There is constant debate about the overall effectiveness of 'Berba' during his time at Old Trafford. Some United believed he was the world class addition needed at the time, o

We still have a lot of things to improve. Performances help create this atmosphere. "We go beyond our own limits when we need to. This is what the boys did today. It was a tough game." Rangers beat Celtic at a packed Ibrox

Rangers, with manager Steven Gerrard and several players absent after a Covid outbreak, made it seven derbies in a row without losing. The victory moves Rangers to within a point of Hibernian and Hearts at the summit. Celtic are now in sixth place after two defeats in four matches. Ange Postecoglou has now become the first Celtic manager since Tony Mowbray in 2009 to lose his first Old Firm derby. Watch the video below to see and hear some reaction from Rangers. The Celtic view Everyone associated with Celtic will obviously be disappointed with the result as their form had improved in recent weeks following an opening day defeat to Hearts. If they are to retain the title this season, they will need to win at least two of the remaining matches against Rangers. On this showing, and against a depleted Rangers side, that looks unlikely. The video below explores some of the immediate reaction from a group of Celtic fans. Previous matches and moments involving the two clubs What's th

Crystal Palace 0 - 0 Brentford

Brentford kept their second successive clean sheet as their impressive start to life in the Premier League continued. The Bees named an unchanged starting eleven from that win against Arsenal, but offered little attacking threat in the opening stages. Ivan Toney went close with a shot from distance. The Brentford manager tiold Match Of The Day: “I think we slightly edged it to be the better side. We won the ball a lot of times in good areas, but we didn’t have the quality to put a good counter-attack chance together. “We ended the first half on top, which pleased me in many ways. We need a little bit more confidence and composure. But I think it is a positive that we have another level to take from this game."   The Palace perspective Patrick Vieira has argued that his side's performance in 0-0 draw with Brentford does give them hope for the rest of the season.
