Some of the greatest Premier League players

England has been home to some of the greatest players ever. Since the creation of the Premier League in 1992, this has only increased.

Let's have a look at some of the best.

Jamie Vardy

The rise of Jamie Vardy through the football pyramid to become a Premier League champion is one of the best football stories in recent history. Watch this video to see him in his Non League days.

Ruud van Nistelrooy

Greater Manchester Football recently asked the question: How good was Ruud van Nistelrooy? The striker scored 150 times for Manchester United and won the Premier League in 2003. He also won the FA Cup in 2004.

Cristiano Ronaldo

Some believe that Cristiano Ronaldo is the greatest footballer of all time. He spent 6 years at Old Trafford and scored over 100 goals for Man United. He also won the Premier League on three consecutive occasions alongside the Champions League in 2008. Despite leaving the club in 2009, Manchester United fans still sing his name. Greater Manchester Football have published many stories on the player.

Alan Shearer

The Newcastle United legend is often regarded as one of the best strikers of his generation and one of the greatest players in the history of the Premier League. He is also the league's record goalscorer. Before his move to Newcastle, Shearer won the league with Blackburn Rovers in 1995.

Vincent Kompany

An icon for Manchester City fans. Kompany was key to Manchester City becoming a force in the Premier League. In addition to his defending, he also scored some very important goals. One of his best and most important was this screamer in 2019.

Some of the others

Of course, we could publish an entire book on those great Premier League players that have enriched football in this country since 1992. You could obviously look at Eric Cantona. Manchester City will also see the likes of Sergio Aguero. That late title winning goal against QPR is arguably one of the most dramatic moments in football history.

The transfer window is closed until January 1st.  Who had the best window though? Were there any major losers?
