Just the 18 goals as Spain and Switzerland progressed to the next round of Euro 2020

Spain 5 - 3 Croatia

Spain qualified for the next round of Euro 2020 in dramatic fashion after beating Croatia in extra time. They had lead 3-1 before Croatia fought back in the late stages to give the game another 30 minutes. Goals from Morata and Oyarzabal sealed the win.

Many people assumed that the next game couldn't possibly match that one. How wrong they were...

France were expected to beat Switzerland with some comfort but it really didn't work out like that.

France 3 - 3 Switzerland

Kylian Mbappe missed the crucial penalty as Switzerland beat France on penalties in the last 16 after a wonderful Euro 2020 game.

Paul Pogba had previously scored one of the goals of the tournament so far to give the French a 3-1 lead.

However the Switzerland roared back to take the game into Extra Time. Unlike Croatia, they were able to keep out their talented opponents and take the game to penalties.  

What a day of football!

Some have argued on Twitter that this has been one of the best football days ever. Others however believe it doesn't quite match the dramatic FA Cup semi-final day of 1990. This also had a huge number of goals. Crystal Palace beat Liverpool 4-3 and Manchester United drew 3-3 with Oldham Athletic.
